About Cutabolt

Cutabolt commenced business in April 1999 with the purchase of the Du Pont (Australia) Ltd “Dupadowel” business by Simon and Linda Knight.

The focus of the business is the supply of glass reinforced polymer (GRP) bolts and accessories for ground support and reinforcement.
I, Simon, had been with the Dupadowel business for all my eleven years with Du Pont so when the decision was taken to divest “Dupadowels” it was an inevitable option that I should consider taking it on.

Du Pont developed the Dupadowel in the mid ‘80s as a result of combining its expertise with polymers with its experience in the mining industry.
Du Pont supplied explosives and resin anchors and had invented nylon. This development continued with amongst other things the introduction of the RIMA Dowel, Rima Bolt and TP Dowel.

Cutabolt has continued and sped up this process of development. Since April ’99, major modifications have been made to the Dupadowel, the nuts for both the Dupa and AROA have been modified, the plastic bearing plate Plasplate has been introduced and a 30 tonne tensile bolt and swivel bearing plate developed for tunnelling.

This CT30T/22 bolt has been an enormous success and has now found application in coal mining development through difficult ground.

Cutabolt believes it can offer the widest range of GRP bolts and accessories available from one source anywhere in the world.

I have been in the mining and exploration industry for over 30 years having worked for a number of major mining and mining supply companies in Australia, the United Kingdom and West Africa. I have worked and travelled at one time or another in most of the English-speaking mining world. This depth of experience enhances the service that I can offer to you my customers.
Cutabolt’s market has grown from long wall coal mining into tunnelling since it’s inception and this has lead to benefits for both markets.
Cutabolt forms strategic alliances with its key suppliers by sharing market information, introducing the key suppliers to Cutabolt’s priority customers and by gaining an understanding of the manufacturing processes. This sharing of knowledge has greatly facilitated new product development.

Fibreglass rod is supplied by Pultron Composites of Gisborne in New Zealand and the injection moulding is undertaken By ASP Plastics at St Marys in Sydney. ASP Plastics also undertake warehousing and distribution. Having this small number of key suppliers has created a very high level of trust and co-operation.
